Biographie
William Lee Conley, dit Big Bill Bronzy (1893-1958),occupe une place considérable dans l'histoire du blues,dont il a couvert à peu près tous les styles,du plus frustre au plus urbain.Guitariste véloce et bondissant,jouant sur la difficile clé d'ut dans le style ragtime,il a accompagné presque tous les grands bluesmen de sa génération et enregistré lui-même des centaines de titres,dont une bonne part de compositions personnelles.D'abord trés représentatif du modernisme chicagoan,il reviendra dans les années 50-60,à la faveur du blues revival, à la formule soliste des origines.Son autobiographie,Big Bill Blues,est un témoignage essentiel .
